Frequently Asked Questions

"What you said was so helpful to me and has so far made a significant difference. thank you very much! What a liberating experience I had coming to speak to you." Helen

What kind of problems does brief therapy help with?
Brief therapy can help with all the problems and issues that other therapies deal with including depression, anxiety and stress, loss and bereavement, relationship issues, work related issues, being bullied at school or at work, , having had to withstand bad treatments and violence in childhood or adulthood, finding it hard to be a parent, coping with infertility, dealing with IVF, adjusting to physical illness, moral dilemmas, cultural clash, and other issues.
What if I want to talk about my past?
You can talk about whatever you want. Making sense of how you responded to various situations in the past is important in discovering skills and resources you might not have taken into account. Sometimes reviewing how you think about your past experience can be helpful in moving forward. Some other times you might just need to get something out of your system.
Is there a minimum number of sessions to attend?
No, you really come only when you wish and sometimes one visit is sufficient to help. I like to make one follow up phone call after a month if I haven't heard from you again. This allows me to evaluate how helpful the work has been. I will ask for your permission to do this at the end of our first meeting.
What if I want to come long term?

Of course, you can come for however long you want, and we will review regularly how the sessions are helping you along the way. I have worked with some people over many years. So you might choose to continue having sessions occasionally, or you might decide to come for some sessions when an issue arises.
